Ex Qld premier Annastacia Palaszczuk sells Noosa beach home in 2 weeks
The former Queensland premier has sold the beachside investment property she listed just four days after resigning as an MP.
Annastacia Palaszczuk has sold her beachside Noosa investment property in just two weeks, but for less than the former Queensland premier had hoped.
Records show the two-bedroom apartment in Sunrise Beach fetched $930,000, after initially being listed for $945,000 in January — just four days after Ms Palaszczuk resigned as a member of parliament.
Ms Palaszczuk has still done well out of the investment, given records reveal she purchased the property in 2012 for $370,000 and it was last rented out for $710 a week.
Huge questions raised over MPs’ property investments
The sale was negotiated by Jesse Stowers of Tom Offermann Real Estate, who said a cash offer and 30-day settlement sealed the deal.
“We had a lot of people through,” Mr Stowers said. “Certainly in that price bracket, there are a lot of people with conditions like finance, building and pest.”
Mr Stowers said the property sold to a client on his database, who will continue to rent it out.
“It’s a good little earner,” he said.
Ms Palaszczuk continues to own a home at Seventeen Mile Rocks and a unit at Main Beach on the Gold Coast.
The two-bed, two-bathroom unit is metres away from the ocean in an area which, like most of Queensland, experienced significant growth in property prices following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The median unit price in Sunrise Beach is $910,000, having grown 5 per cent in the past 12 months, according to realestate.com.au.
Mr Stowers said units were in demand in the area because of their relative affordability, but properties at all price points were being snapped up quickly.
“I’ve got a $2 million unit in Sunshine Beach and people are all over that. Noosa just has that really wide buyer audience.”
