Ellen DeGeneres sells one of her last US homes for $8 million after UK move
Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have cut their final links to Donald Trump’s America, as they seek a new life elsewhere.
Ellen DeGeneres is offloading the last remnants of her connection to America, as she starts a new life elsewhere.
The former talk show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, sold their two-bedroom, two-bathroom beach bungalow in Montecito, California, Page Six reports.
The property, which the couple purchased for $US2.9 million in 2020, was listed for $US4.995 million ($A7.9 million) on March 10 and sold for $US5.2 million ($A8.2 million) just 10 days later.

Located near Butterfly Beach, the home features a “spa-like” bathroom, “sun-drenched” patios, a private courtyard, “lush” gardens and soundproof fencing, according to its listing.
The house, which was built in 1954 and remodelled in 2012, was just one of DeGeneres and de Rossi’s many residences in the US prior to their move to the English countryside.
According to TMZ, the pair decided to “get the hell out” of the US after Donald Trump’s presidential win and relocating to the UK.
DeGeneres was an outspoken supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, publicly endorsing her in a post shared on Instagram.
They are residing in an $US18 million ($A28 million) farmhouse in the Cotswolds of England, Realtor reports.
DeGeneres and de Rossi, although most famous for their on-screen work, have cultivated a lucrative side hustle for themselves as real estate moguls over the last 15 years, buying and selling more than a dozen homes in California, often for a hefty profit.
In August 2024, the Daytime Emmy winner offloaded one of her most expensive properties to date, a $US96 million ($A139 million) Carpinteria estate.
DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the sprawling dwelling in two parts in 2022, first snapping up the main property — a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom, Tuscan-style mansion — for $US41.7 million.
The couple then added the adjoining 6.58-acre land for $US28.2 million in order to create a jaw-dropping, 10-acre estate atop a bluff overlooking the ocean.
That sale came just months after DeGeneres and de Rossi offloaded another mansion in nearby Montecito, California, where the funny woman lived within a stone’s throw of their close friends, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
DeGeneres sold that property for $US32 million ($A50 million) in February 2024.
It had been listed for sale in October 2023 for $US46.5 million ($A74 million).
