Obstetrician Dr Sarah Woodbury has a surprise bundle of joy after her Curl Curl home sold prior to auction delivering her more than $1000 a day for every day she owned it.

She bought a five-bedroom house at 14 Seaview Ave with beach views in December 2013 for $2.88m and has just sold it for $6,855,500 with minimal change to the home. That’s an increase of $3,975,500 over 127 months or $31,303 per month.

“I just painted the outside, resurfaced the pool and redid the deck,” she said.

“Buyers said it looked a bit tired inside but that didn’t stop them fighting for it before auction.

The double brick house was slated for auction on Saturday (August 3) but two families competed for it beforehand. Agent Angus White, of Whitehouse Real Estate, said Seaview Ave was one of Curl Curl’s best addresses with more than 180-degree ocean views.

“It was a two-horse race and negotiations continued virtually every hour for 24 hours,” he said.

The guide for the house with pool was mid $6m and the sale is a new street record and the suburb’s fifth highest sale.

According to PropTrack the median house price for Curl Curl is $4.9m up 22.5 per cent in 12 months. The suburb record is $9.4m for a five-bedroom house in Ellen St that sold in May 2022.
