Costs more than a home: Bondi car spot’s ‘liberating’ price
Even by the overheated nature of Sydney’s property market, this seems a tall ask – a parking spot with a huge price tag. But then again it is all very ‘liberating’ apparently.
Even by the overheated nature of Sydney’s property market, this seems a tall ask – a parking spot with a $1m price tag.
Yup. If you wish, you can fork over a million big ones for a home … for your car.
However it seems this garage is more than simply a place to park your car: it’s an oasis in the sweltering heat of a stinking hot Sydney summer’s day.

In fact dropping all that hard earned on a slice of concrete bliss, just metres from the world famous golden sand of Bondi Beach would be, could be ‘liberating and a “privilege”.
And for 20 per cent more than the cost of an Aussie home – according to PropTrack’s Home Price Index the median national home price in August was $790,000 – it can all be yours.
“Envision the privilege of arriving at Bondi Beach on a scorching summer day, liberated from the stress of locating a parking space,” the listing for the parking spot, which has been brought to market by Raine and Horne’s Ric Serrao, reads
“Instead, you effortlessly drive into your secure personal oceanfront under-cover garage.
“This haven boasts not only the closest parking proximity to the beach and Icebergs, but also essential amenities such as power & freshwater, conveniently at your fingertips.”
You could even store your Esky, floaties, beach chair and giant blow up flamingo there too.

And maybe it is something of a good deal, given a one-bedroom unit in the same Notts Ave block in South Bondi just sold for an Australian record of $11m.
Mr Serrao has suggested the spot, given demand for such properties in the area, could be worth $2m in five years time.
As a comparison 20 minutes across town, depending on the traffic, there’s a CBD parking spot for sale for $525,000.
And earlier this year, another vendor Mr Serrao was working for knocked back a $1m offer for a garage spot on Ben Buckler in North Bondi.
What a time to be alive.
