Check out Sam Worthington and Lara Bingle’s LA home
SAM WORTHINGTON, and wife Lara Bingle have spent up big — buying a very VIP home in Los Angeles for some serious coin.
WHERE the bloody hell else would they live? Of course the Worthingtons (Sam and wife Lara Bingle plus their suitably Hollywood named sons Rocket and Racer) have bought a very VIP home in Los Angeles for an eye-watering $10.9 million (US$7.87 million).
Not a bad price considering the property was originally listed at $19.71 million (US$14 million) and an interesting choice for Mr Worthington who told News Corp back in 2012 what he really thought of Tinseltown.
“I would never live in LA — I hate the place,” he told the newspaper at the time.
But how stardom has changed the former bricklayer from Perth who, at age 30, reportedly sold all his belongings to become voluntarily “homeless”.
Now the actor and the model-turned-entrepreneur have just bought a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion sitting high above Sunset Strip in the Bird Streets neighbourhood of Los Angeles.
One of the city’s most exclusive and sought-after enclaves, the Hollywood Hills patch is known for its stunning views, extreme privacy and, you guessed it - streets that are named after birds.
To put its prices in perspective, the well-heeled hood is the kind of community where knockdowns can fetch as much as $10 million.
On and off the star-studded neck of the woods has been home to Leonardo DiCaprio, Larry Flynt, Jonah Hill, Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry.

The Worthington’s two-storey designer digs has a host of five star features including a guest house for their Aussie family and friends, a grand lounge room with a marble fireplace, a home cinema, sit-in wine cellar, sauna, pool, spa and backyard fire pit.
In the kitchen there are all the glamour inclusions from the high-end appliances, mammoth marble island bench and storage for days.
Other fancy detailing includes a stripped back Scandi decor, Art Deco inspired iron balustrades on the statement staircase, his and her wardrobes in the main bedroom which also has an enviable ensuite complete with a double marble and glass shower, freestanding bath tub and a private balcony with panoramic views of the Hollywood lights.
