Modernist Sydney gem up for sale
A unique custom-built modernist masterpiece has hit the market for the first time in 60 years.
The Quittner family has listed its longtime modernist 1960s Castle Cove house for October 28 auction with a $3.75 million price guide through Craig and Sharon Ireson of McGrath.
It follows the death of artist Eva Quittner, whose late husband, engineer John, constructed it after they migrated from Hungary in 1957.
Set on 677sq m, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Deepwater Rd home comes with a pool and cabana.

“Embodying a unique character, this grand family residence was designed by the family in 1966 and showcases striking interiors with lush indoor/outdoor entertaining zones. Capturing an elevated outlook, it’s footsteps to buses and close to harbour walks.”
According to PropTrack, the median house price in Castle Cove, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, is $4.03m. That’s up 6.6 per cent over the past 12 months.
