Once in a while a rare real estate opportunity raises it’s head in Sydney’s east and this entire block of 12 apartments just footsteps to Bondi Beach is certainly out of the ordinary.

The charming Art Deco building, which sits just behind Bondi Public School, is in the beating heart of the famous suburb with the iconic strip of sand and bustling boutique precinct right on the doorstep.

A whole building of units to be sold in one line is unique enough, but this listing comes to the market accompanied by DA approval for four designer apartments.

An inspired collaboration between SJB Architects, AN+A Interiors and Impero Construction will result in a quartet of new house-like residences.

Gavin Rubinstein of TRG says the one-off Bondi Beach block at 55 Gould St is hard to put a price tag on.

“There just hasn’t been something like this to compare, but you’d be looking at about $50,000 to $60,000 a square metre for these apartments once they’re finished,” he says, adding that apartments along the beachfront have sold in the vicinity of $100,000/sqm.

“For one street back, literally, you’ll be paying half the price. It’s good value because you don’t have to deal with all the hustle or bustle of Campbell Pde. To me, this is an even a better spot. You get more privacy and it’s quieter.”

The new design blends contemporary curved lines with the building’s Art Deco features and each apartment will have spacious proportions and an indoor-to-outdoor flow perfectly suited to its beachside locale. A modern aesthetic also promises a coastal vibe with light walnut timber and rustic stone surfaces inspired by the neighbouring ocean and Bondi’s cliffside landscape.

And if the world-renowned Bondi Beach only 200m away isn’t enough for avid swimmers, the DA for the Gould St building also incorporates a luxury rooftop pool for residents, complete with a sundeck for entertaining and enviable sweeping views of the beach below.

Currently the three-storey property is configured into 10 one-bedroom apartments with sunrooms and one bathroom each. One unit has been reconfigured into a three-bedroom floor plan. Entirely liveable as is, the block is ready to rent and provide a significant holding income prior to renovations.

Four lock-up garages on title afford each resident their own space.

In addition to the beach and school right outside where the popular Bondi Markets are held each Saturday, the Gould St building is close to Bondi Pavilion, eateries, bars and a handy Woolworths Metro.
