One of America’s richest families is caught up in a bitter battle over one of the country’s most expensive homes.
Billionaire Anthony Pritzker – the son of Hyatt Hotel chain founder Donald Pritzker – is locked in a fight with his ex-wife Jeanne Pritzker over the couple’s $290m home, following their divorce.
Sitting on an estate of over 4600 sqm in the hills looking over Los Angeles, the Pritzker Estate is one of American’s largest private homes.

It boasts a staff of 25 and the amenities of a small town including a bowling alley, a hairdressing salon, and changing rooms for its infinity swimming pool and its vista of the downtown skyline.
It also has a 60-car parking lot, a gym, library, beauty salon and tennis court.
The home itself is split between four levels, two above ground and two below.
It has been the longtime home of Anthony and Jeanne but is now the subject of their biggest conflict since they have finalised their divorce after separating in 2022.

The home is set to hit the LA market and is expected to be sold for between US$150 and US$200m (A$216m to A$290m), which would make it one of the most expensive homes ever to sell in LA, according to The Wall Street Journal.
It’s the third biggest residential property in LA behind The One, which was completed in 2020 with hopes to be the richest home in America before it struggled to sell, and TV producer Aaron Spelling’s Manor.
The fight over Pritzker Estate centres around a pre-nuptial agreement the couple signed before they were married 30 years ago and claims and counterclaims over the veracity of that document and whether it relates to the home.

Under US law if a house is a marital asset, the proceeds of any sale or equity in the home would be split 50/50. However if the pre-nuptial agreement is ruled to be legally binding, the amount of equity the parties receive in this case, could be dependent on that.
Anthony Pritzker’s – brother of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker – net worth is set to be around US$3.7bn.
