The grand ‘White Waltham’ estate on Brisbane River has sold for $7m within days of hitting the market, smashing the Moggill suburb record.

The 4.64ha property at 14 Zelita Rd, Moggill, was listed for sale on Wednesday last week and sold on Saturday to a local businessman.

The estate previously exchanged hands for $5.75m in May 2023 while the Moggill sales record was held by 60 Hawkesbury Rd, which sold for $5.85m in November 2022.

Selling agents Hamish Bowman and Joel Imeson of Hamish Bowman Properties showed the successful buyer through the home just one day after it was listed.

“He had a private inspection on Thursday and put in an offer on Thursday night,” Mr Bowman said.

“We had multiple offers presented to the seller.

“We hit the target number – it was a cash unconditional sale in a timely manner – and the seller executed a contract from London via DocuSign on Saturday.”

Mr Bowman said the new owner had been looking for a home with space for children.

“He lives on the water in (the city) but was sick of taking his son go-karting in a suburban area,” he said.

“The property, while beautiful, has potential for an upgrade internally, which the buyer plans to do in time while maintaining the traditional and overall feel of the property.”

With 306m of river frontage, ‘White Waltham’ is the widest residential riverfront home in Brisbane.

It features a New England farmhouse-inspired home, a summer house, tennis and basketball courts, a fire pit area, a swimming pool with entertaining pavilion, an orchard and a caretaker’s residence.

Originally built in the 1950s, the three-storey main home has been beautifully renovated and extended over the years and includes six bedrooms, a wine cellar and bar, a glass conservatory and river views.

Mr Bowman said despite only being on the market for a matter of days, the prestigious property attracted strong interest from wealthy buyers with young families.

“On Friday we had a second inspection with the under bidder and the owner wanted to run through the advertised open home on Saturday,” he said.

“We had 15 buyers through in a semi-private inspection and had a golf cart to take them on a buyer’s journey because of the size of the property.

“We had a buyer from an NT cattle operation come down for the open and a pastoral family from outside of Toowoomba.

“We also a Chinese buyer and a buyer from Dubai conduct Facetime inspections.”

Mr Bowman said the sale of ‘White Waltham’ was a sign of the healthy prestige property market in Brisbane.

“It was also a matter of knowing the particular buyer profile to suit the property and targeting it from the start,” he said.
