The Block stars list NQ property
The Block fan favourites Caro and Kingi Tahana have listed a property for sale in Townsville after flexing their reno skills and giving it a modern update.
The Block fan favourites Caro and Kingi Tahana have listed a property for sale in Townsville after flexing their reno skills and giving it a modern update.
The North Queensland couple, known for competing on The Block in 2015, put the home at 310 Pinnacle Drive, Rasmussen, on the market for offers over $339,000 this week.
Caro said the property was their starter home and where the pair filmed their audition video for The Block.
“I was so excited to buy this house,” she said.
“Kingi already owned a home at the time, so it was actually my house and for me to buy a house by myself was such a big accomplishment.
“It was where Kingi and I came home to after we got married and where we bought our daughter home to from the hospital.”
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom house is on an 1100sq m block with pool and no rear neighbours.
Caro and Kingi lived in the home for four years before buying closer to the city, right as they found out they’d been selected for The Block.
“When we bought it, I thought it was the best little house ever,” Caro said.
“It overlooks Mt Stuart and I remember waking up in the morning and looking out at the views.”
Caro said the property would make the perfect first home for someone trying to enter the market.
“It’s a solid brick home and you don’t have to do anything to it, we’ve done all the hard work,” she said.
“It has new carpets, it’s been painted inside and out and it has a brand new fence.”
The veteran renovators did most of the updates on the Rasmussen property themselves.
“We pretty much only called the experts in for things we don’t have trades in, like the plumbing,” Caro said.
“I painted the outside of the house myself.
“I actually found it really relaxing with no husband and no kids around.”
Caro said she even managed to get Kingi, owner of KCT Creative Rendering, to render the floors in the bathroom, a feat for any tradie’s wife.
“It really does look amazing and it makes the house feel modern,” she said
Caro said once the home sold, the couple would take a “little break” before taking on another reno project.
“We know Kingi and I make a really great team,” she said.
“After being thrown into a show like The Block, we know what our strength and weaknesses are.”
The property is being marketed by Craig Currie of Ray White Kirwan.
