Indie music star Amy Shark has agreed to multimillion-dollar deal to cement her Sydney relocation as the countdown begins to her new album release and Australia-NZ tour.

The eight-time ARIA award winner tried remaining in her hometown on the Gold Coast but travel times wreaked havoc amid a hectic development schedule for her new album Sunday Sadness. Fans have been treated to weeks of teasers around the new album, set for release by Sony Music on August 16.

The payout comes off the beloved waterfront home she and husband Shane Billings bought in Broadbeach almost six years ago. They first tried renting it out for $2,300 a week to keep the home, before conceding a sale would be better option given the reality of a massive music program ahead for 2024.

The property was sold by LJ Hooker Southport for $1.4m more than Shark had paid, fetching $3.65m via private treaty sale.

“The Gold Coast will always be home for me,” she said, “but I’m looking forward to spending more time in Sydney and basing myself there for the foreseeable future”.

The Broadbeach waterfront home is not the first that the couple has sold off on the Gold Coast – letting go a three-bedroom townhouse in Varsity Lakes for $355,000 nine years ago, as well as another four-bedder in Broadbeach Waters for $880,000 three years ago.
