Fitness and health guru sells Gold Coast home for $1.27 million
FITNESS and health guru Belinda Norton has sold her Gold Coast home for almost triple the price she paid for it in 2006.
THE Burleigh Waters home of Gold Coast fitness and health guru Belinda Norton has sold for more than $1 million under the hammer.
The 1970s built house at 38 Aruma Ave fetched $1.27 million at auction on Saturday – almost triple the $458,000 Ms Norton paid for it in 2006.
The well-known Instagram blogger and author transformed the brick house into a contemporary coastal home with an industrial style.
Marketing agent Josh Willatt, of Ray White Robina, believed the property’s fresh style was its biggest selling point.
He said most homes in the area had a Hamptons style so people were intrigued to see something different.
“I think the biggest thing was it bucks the trend for what’s been selling for so long in Burleigh,” Mr Willatt said.
“Quite a lot of neighbours were interested to see how it went because it’s a little bit unique for Burleigh.”
He said they were surprised by the number of spectators at the auction.
“There were probably about 50 people (who) attended the auction and we had three registered bidders,” Mr Willatt said.
“We were not expecting such a big turn out – we weren’t expecting literally the whole street to turn up.”
A local man, a couple from Melbourne and a young Brisbane family battled it out for the property.
Following about 25 bids, the Brisbane couple claimed the victory.
Mr Willatt said it was a great result.
“It was certainly well above expectation,” Mr Willatt said.
“(Ms Norton) poured her heart and soul into this so it was really important that she got a good result.”
While it was a quiet weekend for auctions, the Gold Coast recorded a handful of big sales.
An acreage property at Upper Coomera sold for $1.13 million while a riverfront property at Currumbin Waters fetched $1.085 million on Saturday.
A Maudsland home, which was also scheduled to go under the hammer on Saturday, sold before auction for $1.3 million.
