Fancy a treechange and a career change? A Far North Queensland property offers both, with a treehouse in the rainforest and a permit to run fishing and crocodile tours from your own private pontoon.
Located at 3198 Mossman Daintree Road in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, the two bedroom pole house sits on a 2.03ha block surrounded by lush greenery and that leads to Barrats Creek, a tributary of the Daintree River.
It is listed for just $550,000.
“Situated just across the road from the Daintree Eco Lodge and moments from the iconic Daintree National Park, this property offers a gateway to the region’s wonders, including untouched beaches, lush rainforests, and diverse wildlife,” the listing by David Cotton of Raine & Horne Port Douglas/Mossman says.
“The property features expansive outdoor spaces, ideal for fishing, entertaining or unwinding in the midst of the rainforest’s beauty.”
Described as a “nature enthusiasts haven”, the property could be used as a private residence, boutique holiday retreat or a wellness sanctuary.
“The vast land provides space for development while preserving the area’s natural charm,” the listing says.
“A current permit allows for commercial ventures such as fishing or crocodile tours from your private pontoon.”

But the listing warns that the property was flooded in 1996 and the recent 2023 floods.
The nearby Daintree Village was entirely cut off from the world for seven days with no power, water, or phone communication from December 13 to 19 after Cyclone Jasper and the rain bomb that followed caused record-breaking flooding across Far North Queensland in 2023.
Over that period, the village received 1921mm of rain and Daintree River peaked at the village at 15m on December 18.
