A family home has hit the Cairns property market with a cricket pitch that would surely rate a “marvellous” on the Richie Benaud scale.

Sitting on an 1122sq m block at 2 Ribbon Cl, Clifton Beach, the home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a huge garage.

Outside, there is a spacious alfresco area with outdoor kitchen, all overlooking an in-ground swimming pool.

And there’s the top notch cricket pitch and practice nets for aspiring Bradmans and Warneys wanting to work on their square cuts and leg spins.

Selling agent Nick Pelucchi, of LJ Hooker Cairns Beaches, said the cricketing set-up was put in by the current owner.

“He and his sons are cricket tragics,” he said.

“They’d be out using the pitch almost every afternoon.”

Mr Pelucchi said he was hard pressed to think of another suburban home with a full cricket pitch in the backyard.

“Not many properties have the room for it, and this owner has taken full advantage of the space he does have.

“I did my first open on the weekend and there were a handful of people that showed up purely because of the cricket pitch.”

Mr Pelucchi said the pitch was cleverly designed to be easily converted into a pad for a large boat or caravan if the new owners weren’t fans of bowling a few in their own backyard.

Inside the Clifton Beach home, there is a new kitchen, new entertaining space with barbecue area and fresh paint and new fans throughout.

There’s also a custom-built garage with room for four vehicles.

“The owner made sure the shed was large enough to fit his Signature boat and it’s tall enough – with a 3.3m-high entrance – to accommodate caravans as well,” Mr Pelucchi said.

The property is on the market for offers over $1.3m.

“It’s been a much-loved home and now it’s ready for its new owners,” Mr Pelucchi said.
