Brisbane home for sale for State of Origin player fee of $30,000
In the ultimate State of Origin fan tribute, a Brisbane house has listed for sale at the match fee every Maroons and Blues player is paid for Game 3 - $30,000.
Queenslanders are State of Origin crazy, but as finals night approached a Brisbane house had the ultimate fan tribute, listing for sale at $30k – equivalent to the match fee all players are paid for Game 3.
The unbelievable price tag means that if a player chooses, they could have a ready-made Brisbane house for the equivalent of their fee for running on the field to represent either Queensland or New South Wales Wednesday night.

‘It’s been crazy’: Shock suburb where prices quadrupled in a year
As you can imagine with such a ridiculous sale figure, there is a catch: When the owner said the house was for sale for $30,000, that is literally what he meant.
Any new owner will have to remove the two bedroom worker’s cottage from the Brisbane site onto their own block of land elsewhere.
The owner, who is a luxury home builder, is willing to offer support to help relocate the $30,000 house if the buyer required it.
But, he said, “only for houses within 100km” of the current Brisbane northside location.
So, apologies Blues fans, it’s most likely not going to be removed into NSW – though anyone from southern capitals who bought it for an investment wouldn’t be the last to sink their hard-earned cash into Queensland.
“The house is ready to be relocated to an area of your choice, versatile and capable of fitting many different size blocks, you could make this rental, granny flat, Airbnb, whatever you wish,” the current owner said.
Because the house is post-war, it is removable from the site subject to council approval granted to the current owner, and doesn’t have some of the tougher restrictions that pre-1945 homes do in Brisbane.

The owner seems to have already moved on from the worker’s cottage anyway, having bought the Brisbane property for $586,000 in 2020, and getting approval to build a luxury home on site.
Once the old worker’s cottage is sold for $30,000, the builder plans to create a brand-new five bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home with wine cellar, outdoor kitchen, in-ground pool and double-car garage with EV charger.
According to PropTrack, the median price of houses in the suburb hit a million dollars in the past year, and the owner has had the two bedroom cottage listed for lease at $550 a week earlier this year – a gross rental yield just under 5 per cent.
