Before and after: Inside architect couple’s spectacular home flip
A three-way showdown for the savvy couple’s stunning acreage saw their renovated home snapped up days before auction.
An architect couple’s Gold Coast home flip has sold for $2.55m – double the price they paid – after a competitive three-way showdown ahead of auction.
The couple purchased the tired 1980s home for $1.21m in 2022 after it sat on the market for five months. A no-expense-spared renovation transformed the single-level home, adding a new master suite, office, and light-filled open-plan living crowned by skylights.
The revamped pool and spa area, complete with a rock waterfall, slide, and entertaining pavilion, was another show-stopping feature.
Marketing agent Hanan Cawley said the property drew huge interest, with six offers and a final three-way contest to secure the sale.
“The home was incredibly popular and it sold in a three-way multi-offer situation, two days ahead of auction,” Mr Cawley said.
“The vendors did an amazing job with the renovation and really left no space untouched.”
The buyers were a family relocating from a nearby suburb.
“They just walked in and fell in love,” Mr Cawley said.
The home was described in the listing as a blend of “contemporary elegance and timeless country charm”.
Set over a 4,400 sqm lot backing onto a nature reserve at 14 Narrabundah St, Mudgeeraba, the home had five bedrooms and three bathrooms, with expansive sliding doors opening onto the wraparound verandah.

Outside, the property offered multiple spaces to enjoy its peaceful setting, with an alfresco pavilion overlooking manicured lawns, pondside gazebo, and built-in barbecue kitchen with wine fridge.
A large shed and a robotic mower to maintain the expansive lawns were also part of the deal.
The big-ticket sale far exceeded the suburb’s median house price of $1,232,500, which has risen 17.4 per cent over the past year, according to PropTrack data.
