DESPITE an army of reality, or what could be coined "realty" TV on our screens, Australia's favourite property show host says we still have more to learn about selling our houses.

Agent turned celebrity real estate critic, Andrew Winter, is rounding up his Selling Houses Australia team mates, Shaynna Blaze (who is also appearing as a judge on Channel 9's The Block) and landscaper Charlie Albone for the sixth season of Foxtel's hit program Selling Houses Australia.

The Logie-nominated host has been hot property on the Lifestyle channel for years, but Mr Winter said just like the ups and downs of the real estate market, TV can also be a roller coaster.

"We were very relieved that we got to season six. The day you start thinking it's going to go forever then you're off your guard. No, I never presume, never jinx it, because it gets stale," he said.

He said this season has many unexpected twists and turns including an episode featuring comedian Akmal Saleh who has a house in the Byron Bay hinterland to sell.

"Our editor, who's been with us for years, said it is without a doubt the funniest episode yet," Mr Winter said.

And there appears to be no end to the common mistakes people make when trying to sell - even when they are fans of the long running show.

"I won't say which episode, but one woman was so excited because she's a big fan of the show, but when I saw her place I thought 'My God, were you watching it with your eyes closed?"'

Humour aside, Mr Winter says the show is also an insight into how Australia's regional markets are comparing with metropolitan areas.

"I think the main lesson I'd like to get out there from this season is that all of you people sitting out there in your nice comfortable Sydney, Melbourne and Perth markets where you complain your house hasn't sold after five weeks - and its value has maybe only gone up $500,000 in five years - have a heart!

"Think about a huge chunk of Australia where the housing market is really struggling," he said.

Selling Houses Australia premiers Wednesday, February 6 at 8.30pm, on The LifeStyle Channel.
