Aussie billionaire lists ‘legacy’ property with live-in manager

Aussie Amart furniture founder John Van Lieshout has sold his country estate for a new record price, with the property snapped up by a well-heeled local family.

Aussie billionaire John Van Lieshout and his wife Linda have sold their luxury estate in the Sunshine Coast hinterland for north of $12 million.

Called Mountain View Manor, the 160 acre property is located in Maleny, a picturesque mountain village about 90 km from Noosa Heads.

It was purchased by a southeast Queensland-based family and settled this week.

The sale blitzes the previous record for the suburb, which was set at $7 million when Montana Park sold in 2009.

Lieshout, the founder of the Amart Furniture chain, and his wife Linda had owned the cattle property for over 20 years, having purchased it for $2.5 million in 2004.

Lieshout is a regular on the annual Rich Lists, and has an estimated fortune of $2.7 billion.

It was sold as part of an expressions of interest campaign and was listed with Ray White Maleny agents Allister Millican and Justin Smith.

The property consists of the grand manor, accessed via wrought iron electric gates. a sweeping concrete driveway, grand entrance amd opulent porte cochere.
