Art dealer Steve Nasteski sells Darling Point apartment for $13.25m to Albert music family

Former Qantas chief Geoff Dixon was keen, as was the ex mining boss Ian Stolyar. But the $13.25m buyer of art dealer Steve Nasteski’s Darling Point apartment is from a big music family.

Former Qantas chief Geoff Dixon was keen, as was the ex mining boss Ian Stolyar. But the $13.25m buyer of art dealer Steve Nasteski’s Darling Point apartment is from a big music family.

The beautifully renovated apartment at 15/85 Yarranabbe Road passed in for $13m at an exciting auction on November 18.

Richardson and Wrench Potts Point/Elizabeth Bay agent Jason Boon had four bidders register and three compete and he’s been negotiating with various parties ever since ahead of a deal tonight.

The Wentworth Courier can exclusively reveal the buyers were Katherine Gaish Albert and her husband Robert Kidd.

Katherine is a member of the Albert family, which sold its music publishing and recording business — behind ACDC, John Paul Young and The Easybeats — to BMG in 2016.

At the auction, bidding had opened at $11.2m and risen in $100,000 increments all the way up to $13m.

It’s understood Nasteski had wanted no less than $13.5m, so he’s had to revise his expectations slightly to secure the deal.

But he’s still done very well — this is the apartment in the popular ‘Santina’ block previously owned by former model Marie Spies, widow of funeral services businessman Ian Spies, which Nasteski bought for about $7.5m prior to its scheduled auction last August.

He’s done a $5.3m renovation by the renowned architect Stephen Varady.

Given the quality of the transformation and the jaw-dropping never-to-be-built out views from the city skyline and Harbour Bridge to Clarke Island and north head, the apartment was, as expected, hugely popular with savvy eastern suburbs buyers.

Boon said at the time it was launched to the market in mid October: “This apartment has the highest specs and is the best renovated apartment I’ve ever seen in my career.”

The apartment, purchased in the name of his wife, actor-turned-singer Alisa Gray, is redundant to the couple’s needs.

They’ve since moved to Byron Bay, having purchased the trophy home Whalewatchers on Wategos Beach for $12m.

They got a good deal on that — it had been initially listed two years ago for $18.5m to $20m.
