The bids were flying thick and fast at the auction of a Richmond time capsule over the weekend.
Set on a 730sqm allotment, the 70 Milner Rd retro charmer hit the auction block on Saturday through Martin Real Estate, and fetching its sellers a great price.
Martin Real Estate account manager Yun Lian said the home attracted 12 registered bidders, with eight of them putting their hand up on the day.

“There were two parties that were really keen, and it was very intense,” Ms Lian said.
“One party, instead of increasing by $1000, he raised it by another $5000, and the other party immediately put his paddle up – it was exciting.”
The home ended up selling for $811,000.
“The owners were hoping to get over $800,000, which they did so they are really happy,” Ms Lian says.
The mid-century modern dwelling was marketed as giving buyers the opportunity to renovate a classic home or build the property of their dreams on a large block with plenty of space for a swimming pool and outdoor entertaining areas.
The solid brick rendered home, located on a valuable corner block, has three bedrooms, including the front main bedroom that overlooks the garden. The other bedrooms, one of which has a ceiling fan, are at the rear of the home. A spacious living room receives plenty of sunlight and has feature timber panelling and an air conditioner.
The well-maintained kitchen has retained its original features, including retro-style cabinetry. It is large enough to include a meals area.
There is also a bathroom with a separate bath and shower, a separate toilet and a laundry.
The garden has established trees and a garden shed, as well as handy side access to Haynes Ave.
The property is a short drive to the city, airport and Henley Beach and is close to a range of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
It is also close to a range of quality public and private schools, including Richmond Primary, St George College, Temple Christian College and Thebarton Senior College.
The auction attracted a crowd of up to 70, and the property eventually sold to a local.
But rest assured, the character home won’t be demolished … just yet.
“The buyer is going to renovate the home and rent it out for the short term while he plans a development in the meantime,” Ms Lian says.
