Quick sale for Adelaide home featured in ‘most terrifying film’

The imposing two-storey home, which appeared in an acclaimed 2014 Australian psychological horror film, has sold within a week since it hit the market.

Dream homes topping buyers' searches

It has been a critically acclaimed film with the Oscar-winning director of The Exorcist, William Friedkin, calling it the “most terrifying film” he had ever seen.

The Babadook, an award-winning Australian psychological horror film, written and directed by Jennifer Kent, is about a single mother who lives with her son, who fears a monster in their home.

The film which stars actors Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman and Daniel Henshall, might have scared the audience but it hasn’t deterred buyers from purchasing one of the homes that featured in the film.

“The exterior of this home featured in The Babadook while the interiors were shot in a neighbouring residence. It’s a truly grand home in a very enviable location as homes here are very tightly held and don’t change hands very quickly,” she said.

Located adjacent to Mills Terrace and the North Adelaide Golf Course, owner Aileen Aujard bought the five-bedroom home in 1961.
