Adelaide’s western suburbs are about to get 14 new architecturally inspired affordable houses. Find out where they are, how much they’ll cost and how to get your hands on one.
Adelaide’s western suburbs are about to get 14 new affordable houses as part of a state government initiative to help tackle housing pressures.
The architecturally-inspired homes include 10 townhouses and four single-storey properties and will be built in Woodville Gardens.
They will be built by local builder Bradford Projects by Scott Salisbury and are expected to be completed by the end of next year.
Priced from $440,000 to $540,000, the homes will be situated less than 10km from the CBD and buyers will be able to choose from a range of products and finishes.
As part of the SA Housing Authority’s Employment Pathways Program, eight apprentices will be employed on site during construction.
That program has already provided employment opportunities for more than 250 apprentices
in trades such as carpentry, electrical, tiling and painting.
The homes will be advertised on the HomeSeeker SA website and are available to low and moderate-income buyers before being placed on the open market. The website also
Human Services Minister Nat Cook said the homes would help those struggling to find affordable housing.
“These new affordable homes are an opportunity for people who would likely be
locked out of buying a home in an extremely competitive housing market,” she said.
“We know these homes sell quickly, so my advice to anybody interested is to visit the
HomeSeeker SA website and register for alerts when new houses come up for sale.
“I also urge prospective buyers to go to the website and get prepared early, so they are
ready to make an offer when they find a house they like.”
Six of the homes will be sold using Homestart Finance’s Shared Equity loan, allowing buyers to increase their purchasing power without increasing their loan repayments.
Bradford Projects by Scott Salisbury managing director Scott Salisbury said he was proud to be a part of the Government’s affordable homes program, and that he hoped his company’s homes would set a new benchmark in affordable living.
“Our trademark for quality and design flair will set this and future projects within the
program apart,” he said.
“We are proud to be creating a new chapter in affordable housing, which will change the lives of many South Australians, by helping them get their foot in the door to quality homes.”
