Mount George home like retreating to a luxury forest paradise

There’s much more to this hills home than meets the eye – it was designed to look like a Canadian log-style home but with more modern building materials.

A Mount George home is at one with its surroundings, and has enough space for even the largest family.

Mark Buckerfield bought the land at 92 Mount George Rd 11 years ago, and says he and his wife felt an instant attraction to it.

“We put an offer in the day it came on the market – it’s a pretty special place, 20-acres with a pine forest just 30 minutes from the city,” he says.

“The house was completed six years ago and we fashioned it on the Canadian log-style home but with more modern building materials.

“We went to stay in several log cabins, not just in Australia but in New Zealand as well, to get ideas about designs and we incorporated all of this into our design.

“The scale of the house is in keeping with the large 40m trees, so it looks small from the road, but when you get inside it has over 320sq m of living space, so it’s really spacious.”

The home has five bedrooms – but could be easily modified to feature seven – two bathrooms and several indoor and outdoor living areas.

“It’s a very quiet property and we can’t see any neighbours from the house, and we’ve put in double glazing and underfloor hydronic heating to keep it comfortable year-round,” Mr Buckerfield says.

“We’re very proud of it because it took four years to plan and complete. It’s a lovely, quality home and a wonderful place to live.”

The home is being sold via an expressions of interest campaign, which closes on February 14, unless it’s sold prior.
