Offering resort-style living at its finest, this Somerton Park home has recorded a stunning auction result.

5 reasons you should go to auction this spring

A custom, re-imagined mid-century entertainer built for family living at 56 Walkers Rd, Somerton Park has not disappointed at auction. It has sold for an eye-watering sum of $3.7m.

According to REA data, the median house price in Somerton Park currently sat at $1,236,500, up by 24.4 per cent in the past 12 months.

Prior to last week’s auction, selling agent Anton Williams of Ray White Glenelg, who had presented the home to market along with Jordan McMahon, said the one-of-a-kind property has garnered a huge amount of interest among buyers – local, interstate and overseas as well.

“A number of factors were driving the interest. Apart from a strong marketing campaign, it’s the uniqueness of the property and of course, the prestigious location,” Mr Williams was quoted in a report before the home’s auction.

One of the most viewed properties on realestate.com.au nationally, the five-bedroom home saw an unprecedented number of people view it during the open inspections.

A post on Mr Williams’ Facebook page mentioned eight open homes were held across a two-week period, and 314 groups viewed the property.

The much-anticipated auction had more than 200 people in attendance. While the selling agents and vendors have been tight-lipped about disclosing the final sale price, one of attendees at the auction had confirmed the eye-watering sum.

Built by award-winning Broadway Building Co as a custom, re-imagined mid-century entertainer for family living, the home has sold to an international buyer in 17 days, the Facebook post mentioned.

The home sits on a 1006sqm allotment and has five bedrooms – the master suite complete with a luxe ensuite. An open-plan kitchen, dining and living room sits at the home’s rear and opens to the side to a glamorous patio with a fire pit that flows to an outdoor entertainment area; and to the pool area at the rear.

Large windows flood the home with light, and a two-car carport sits at the front of the home, with the driveway providing handy off-street parking space for additional vehicles. The landscaped gardens are also a highlight.
