Mix business with pleasure in enviable Hills home
An Echunga home offers the ultimate Hills lifestyle, and has plenty of room for active families to live their best lives.
The opportunity to mix business with pleasure in an enviable pocket of the prized Adelaide Hills doesn’t come often.
Cat McLeod and Marc Appels bought the property at 8 Oinns Rd, Echunga in February 2020 with the view of taking the dated home and breathing new life into it. Given the timing of the purchase, it also serendipitously served another useful purpose.
“It was the perfect Covid haven for us, it gave us plenty of space,” Ms McLeod says. “I work from home, so in our shed we have a self-contained unit that also has an office, so I’m very at home in there, and when we couldn’t go far we had 20 acres to wander around in and make the most of. It was a little run down when we bought it so we’ve been able to place our own touch on it and make it ours, with the help of some talented experts who did a fantastic job.”
The home sits on an 8.09ha allotment and has three bedrooms, open-plan living and a separate self-contained studio with four rooms, a workshop and office. Ms McLeod says, with its space and near-city location, the home is ideal for a family.
“We’re 20 minutes from the tollgate, which was appealing to me as I still have family in Adelaide so, for someone that wants to be in the country but not too far away, it’s the perfect distance,” she says.
