Former Salt Creek school to be family’s new playground
A former SA primary school has been sold to a fishing-mad family, who will turn it into a getaway home.
The former home of the Salt Creek Primary School in Salt Creek, which had been listed for sale with the hopes of catching the “attention of organisations, groups or clubs”, has found a buyer.
The erstwhile school, which had been listed for sale with a price guide of $295,000 to $330,000, has recently gone under contract.
Listed as a “rare opportunity” to own a property with “character and history”, the school is all set to be a new playground for a family from Victor Harbor.
Selling agent Nathan Bolt of Professionals – Murray Bridge said it was the proximity to the Coorong coastline that attracted the new owners.
“The buyers are from Victor Harbor and they love fishing. Proximity to Coorong was a big attraction for them,” Mr Bolt said. “It will be a family getaway home.
“The school closed down in 2014 and the current owners have just been maintaining it. They are local people who have looked after the property well.”
While the benches and chalkboards have long gone, the multiple buildings have been well maintained.
Set on 1.42ha allotment, the property at 27 Salt Creek Road also features a basketball/tennis court and a full-sized oval.
The lush landscape views are among the other highlights of the property.
