Enjoy an eco-friendly lifestyle in this Chapel Hill home
Live off the grid and among the gum trees in this beautiful, self-sufficient home close to Mylor.
A Chapel Hill property offers you the opportunity to live a self-sufficient life in a home that is as economical as it is beautiful.
Vendors Steve and Sue bought the land at 103 Feder Road in 2010 and completed their dream build last year. “We wanted to build a solar passive design and an off-grid stand-alone home, so we have battery storage which was pretty handy in the couple of past weeks as we didn’t have any blackouts; and we also wanted to grow our veggies, so we have a garden, a fruit orchard, chickens and a good water supply,” Steve says.

“When we purchased the property it was quite overgrown, but we were really drawn to the fact it sits on the edge of Onkaparinga River. We’ve got about 400m of river frontage, and it’s great because we can have friends stay down there and camp, kayak, swim and fish for the whole weekend and we don’t hear them at all.”
The home has four bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, a butler’s pantry, an alfresco living space with an outdoor kitchen and a double garage. There is also detached guest accommodation with a bedroom, a living area and a kitchenette, and the property also has a range of equestrian features.
“Everyone that comes here is impressed – because it’s set back from the road, it’s the last thing you expect to see,” Steve says.
