The location of the homes in a much sought-after suburb attracted the prospective buyers.
Selling agent Liam McDevitt of Ray White Walkerville, who presented the two homes to market with co-agent Jessica Buckmaster, said they were initially just selling the house at 29 Eighth Ave before their neighbour decided to list their house too.
“We were initially selling house number 29 and on the Wednesday before the auction the owner of house number 31 decided that she also wanted to sell after we suggested both were worth more together,” Mr McDevitt said.
“We cancelled the auction, gave number 29 a break and then came back to market with both resulting in the sale.
“The house at number 29 is a deceased estate and we were dealing with five siblings. Upon the sale, they celebrated and everyone including the neighbours and us agents got stuck into Mum’s stash of Ouzo.
“(It was) an amazing day and auction and a great way to top off and honour their mum.”
