Own your own town for just $420,000
THERE’S no doubt this is a sweet deal. An entire town is on the market for $420,000 - they’ll even throw in a semi-trailer and a bar.
IF YOU’VE always wanted to run your own town here’s your chance.
For about $420,000 you can buy an entire town in South Dakota.
The town with the affordable price tag is known as Swett.
According to its online listing by Coldwell Banker it is set in the “beautiful prairie” on Highway 18.
A $2.6 MILLION UNIT WITH NO BEDROOM
It says in 1932, a post office was put in the local grocery store, owned by a local farmer named Swett. But in 1945, the government decided the town was too small and closed the post office.
It still appears on maps as a town, despite its lack of post office and has become a popular spot for pheasant hunting.
For you money you get 2ha of land and a bar known as the Swett Tavern.
There is a garage that has been used a tyre shop, a three-bedroom home and three trailer houses.
The deal also includes the liquor license to run the bar and a 1990 Volvo semi trailer.
The listing says the tavern was recently renovated and now has a new horseshoe shaped bar.
A lot of the inventory and personal property is included in the sale of the property owned by local resident Lance Benson.
