The winners of Thursday’s $100m Powerball draw have been revealed.

A Rockhampton couple, and a Melbourne player who doesn’t yet know they’ve won, have shared in draw 1489, pocketing a cool $50m each.

In addition to the two division one winning entries, there were 3,080,963 prizes worth more than $62.5 million in divisions two to nine. This included 11 division two winners who each took home $158,200.15.

The Victorian winner, from the Melbourne suburb of Darebin, held an unregistered ticket, which means The Lott officials need to wait for them to check their ticket and come forward to start the prize claim process.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she hoped Victoria’s newest multi-millionaire realised their good fortune soon.

“What a way to end 2024 and welcome 2025!” she said.

“We can’t wait to unite this mystery winner with their $50 million prize and have that incredibly special conversation about what their future might hold.

“After a week full of excitement and possibility many Australians have dreamt of winning a slice of the $100 million jackpot and having an unforgettable Christmas season.”

An official from The Lott surprised the winning Rockhampton couple with the life-changing news after the draw on Thursday night.

The couple braced themselves for another solar panel sales pitch on Thursday night, only to discover the call was from lottery officials lighting up their lives with a $50 million Powerball prize.

The unsuspecting newly-minted multi-millionaires answered the life-changing phone from The Lott immediately after tonight’s draw.

“You’re joking?!” the winning grandmother laughed.

“I’m in disbelief. I can’t believe it. This doesn’t happen to us.

“I expected you to ask if we have solar panels, not to tell us we’ve just won $50 million!

“We’re multi-millionaires. I can’t believe I’m saying that. It’s going to take a while to wrap my head around it.

“I’ve been playing for a long time now – since the game first started. I had always used the same numbers, but this ticket was just a QuickPick.

“I’m in a total state of shock.

“We’ve been pretty happy in life, but this is the icing on the cake.”

With $50 million about to brighten their bank account just in time for the festive season, the couple looked forward to sharing the multimillion-dollar prize with family.

“It helps the family that’s for sure. ‘Family first’ is what we always say,” she added.

“We’ll have lots more time together now too. I don’t think they’re going to believe us when we tell them.

“There’s going to be a few more prezzies under the tree on Christmas Day.”

Their 12-game QuickPick winning entry was purchased from Card & Paper Shop, Shop 066, Stockland, Yaamba Road, North Rockhampton.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1489 were: 22 10 4 31 1 26 9, with the Powerball 14.

The $100m figure makes it the third-largest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game in 2024.

The chances of winning the jackpot, which required seven matching numbers plus the Powerball number, was about one in 134 million.
