A young South Australian father couldn’t believe he became an instant multi-millionaire after he answered an unknown call while busy at work.

The tradie from McLaren Vale, in Adelaide’s south, held the Jackpot Prize winning entry worth $6,740,000 in Friday’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

The young father, who wanted to remain anonymous, bought his entry of 10 random numbers from thelott.com.

He went to work on Friday morning unaware of his winnings. Then, when called by officials, he wasn’t sure if it was a prank call.

“This isn’t a wind up, is it? Are you sure you’re not one of my mates pulling my leg?” the man said.

“I saw all of these missed calls and then I thought ‘well someone clearly wants me’. I am glad I answered this call.

“This is unbelievable!”

The tradie said he couldn’t wait to call his wife who would be “blown away” by the news.

“I am sure she will ask me to finish up for the day so we can have a few drinks to celebrate,” he said.

The man said the money would be spent on buying his first home, purchasing a caravan to travel around Australia with his family and saving the rest for his children's futures.

“I need a bit of time to process this,” he said.

“We have always rented, so it means we can finally buy ourselves a home.

“I can’t believe I am a multi-millionaire!”

The McLaren Vale man is one of 141 lucky first prize lottery winners who scored the jackpot this year.

Between them, more than $48.61m has been won.
