A Queensland newsagent is on a “winning streak” after delivering its second lottery millionaire in less than a year.
Nextra Forest Lake News in Forest Lake, southwest of Brisbane, has sold yet another division one winning ticket just nine months after a separate resident won an eye-watering $33 million Powerball prize in December.
The latest mystery winner scored $1 million in the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto after buying a ticket from the same newsagent.
Shop manager Jenny Ford said she was “absolutely over the moon” over the newsagent’s newest win.
“Who would’ve known it would happen less than a year after our previous win,” she celebrated.
“We sold a [winning] entry in the $100 million Powerball draw … I don’t think we will ever be able to beat that but hopefully we do!”
The winning numbers from Wednesday’s draw 4325 were 15, 41, 14, 35, 4 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 37. A second division one winning entry came from SA.
Although several retailers across Australia have two or more division one winners under their belts, experts say Nextra Forest Lake News’s year-long winning streak is “rare”.
“Selling a division one winning entry worth over $20 million is rare in itself as it’s not often that Powerball jackpots to heights of $100 million, like (it did) in December 2022,” said The Lotto’s Anna Hobdell.
“It’s great that the retailer is on a winning streak and has sold another division one winning entry.”
One of the country’s luckiest lotto ticket sellers is Melton Lotto & TSG in northwest Melbourne, which has sold a staggering 62 division one entries since it opened 20 years ago.
Melton Lotto’s latest division one entry was sold last week and resulted in a $1.7 million win.
