Winner of $30 million Powerball lotto stunned by life-changing win
A Sydney woman was in disbelief today when she received a phone call during breakfast telling her she had won Powerball’s $30 million jackpot.
The lucky Aussie who won a life-changing $30 million Powerball jackpot in Thursday night’s draw has been tracked down, with the Sydney woman learning of her win while having her breakfast.
The Lane Cove woman held the only division one winning entry across the country and will take home the entire $30m jackpot
The winning numbers were 7, 19, 11, 12, 5, 25, and 8. The Powerball was 20.
Despite now being a multi-millionaire, the Sydney woman vowed to still go to work today like she normally would.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, went to bed early on Thursday night, meaning she missed called from The Lott to confirm her monumental win, meaning she didn’t make the discovery until this morning.
“Is this for real?!” she exclaimed when speaking to an official from The Lott.
“I’d seen the missed calls and wondered what was going on. Then I’ve just checked the app.
“I can’t believe it! I don’t know what to think. Thank you so much.
“We were just having breakfast and getting ready to go to work. We’ll still go to work today – don’t you worry about that! We’ll power on!”
She said it was “a lot to take in” so early in the morning, adding she plays Powerball each week but this is definitely the biggest prize she has ever won.
“I’m shaking and I’m a bit butterfingers now. It’s a bit of a shock,” she said.
When asked how she imagined she’d use her $30 million prize, the stunned woman admitted plans would have to wait until after she finished her breakfast.
“I honestly don’t know at the moment. It just seems unreal,” she said.
“I need to finish my cereal and coffee and then think about it all.
“This makes a massive difference for my family. We’ll remember this day for a while, that’s for sure!”
This is the fourth time this year that Powerball has offered a $30 million draw.
Five people clinched a division two prize of $109,132.70 while 87 people won $3,832.90 each in division three.
The Lott’s Matt Hart said the number of Powerball division one winners this year was steadily climbing.
“Of the six Powerball division one winners we’ve had so far this year, four have come from NSW while two have come from Queensland,” he said.
“Of course, division one wins can land anywhere. Only time will tell where in Australia the next big win will land.
“Imagine how your plans for the rest of 2021 and the rest of your life could change if you took home a life-changing $30 million? A multimillion-dollar prize like this is bound to put a spring in the step of any division one winner.”

The six Powerball division one winners this year have collectively scored $200 million in prize money.
However, it’s been more than two years since someone won a $30 million Powerball prize. Back on May 2019, a Victorian player took home the lot.
A Bendigo blue-collar worker had a dream end to the working week, arriving home to the news he won $30 million.
“I’ve just knocked off work and come home. My wife had just checked the ticket online and came screaming out the door. I said, ‘Don’t get your hopes up’ but I guess it’s true,” he said at the time.
“I’ve never been a rich man and have worked hard all my life, so this is going to make a huge difference to us.
“I watch Millionaire Hot Seat every night and have always dreamt of being a millionaire. Other than my wedding day, this is the best day of my life.”
