Photos reveal glaring differences between Ivanka and Tiffany Trump
They’re glamorous, rich blondes who share a famous father, but that’s where the similarities between Ivanka and Tiffany Trump end.
Ivanka Trump was born into a life of privilege, and her life is so entwined with her famous father’s she’s even been dubbed the “de facto First Lady”.
But while she has always been front and centre in the Trump clan — even before taking on the world of politics — younger half-sister Tiffany’s life couldn’t have been more different.
And while Ivanka makes headlines wherever she goes, Tiffany has stayed so far out of the spotlight she’s long been referred to as the “forgotten Trump”.
TIFFANY
Born on October 13, 1993 to businessman Donald Trump and actress Marla Maples, Tiffany Ariana Trump was named after the famous Tiffany jewellery brand.
She was just four years old when her parents split, and she soon moved thousands of kilometres away from her father to Los Angeles.
While she attended an exclusive private school and visited her father in New York several times a year, Tiffany once told People magazine her mother had given her a “normal childhood” complete with home-cooked dinners and a trampoline in the backyard.
She released a pop song in her final year of school in 2011 but went on to study sociology and urban studies at the University of Pennsylvania, while she is now enrolled at Georgetown Law School in Washington DC.
Her Instagram account shows her posing in gowns, swimsuits and designer outfits, and she’s known for partying with her so-called “Snap Pack” — a group of heiresses and celebrities including Robert F Kennedy Jr’s daughter Kyra Kennedy and Paris Hilton’s brother Barron.
The 25-year-old is also friends with Lindsay Lohan and actress Abigail Breslin.
But while she regularly shares pictures of herself with her father, when she does attend public events with the Trumps, she’s almost always pictured far to the side of the action and is very rarely pictured by the US President’s side.
She was often either notably absent on many occasions during Mr Trump’s presidential campaign, or seen awkwardly far removed from the rest of the family.
Tiffany does not often accompany her father at official events, and while she did join the Trumps during their state visit to London this week, her schedule was not packed with official engagements.
While her older half-sister attended event after formal event, Tiffany had plenty of free time and was spotted shopping at designer stores, eating at a private members’ club and seeing the sights in a casual baseball cap and trainers.
While it’s not surprising Ivanka and her husband attended the visit, as they have formal roles within the administration, the inclusion of Tiffany and her half-brothers Eric and Donald and Eric’s wife Laura on the trip has raised eyebrows.
When asked by CBS News why they were there — and who paid for their travel expenses — a White House official refused to answer, saying only that “they are personally paying”.
IVANKA
Meanwhile, Ivanka, 37, has been front and centre during the family’s high-profile visit to the UK.
She was the first of her family to touch down in the UK, dressing formally and representing the family at many events during the three-day visit.
She’s been famously close to her dad since her birth on October 30, 1981 and is widely considered to be his “favourite” child.
Her mother Ivana was Mr Trump’s first wife, and after they split when she was 10, she moved with her mother and brothers Don Jr and Eric just one floor above Mr Trump in Trump Tower in New York.
She attended an elite all girls-school in Manhattan before switching to a private boarding school at age 15 before flirting with a modelling career in her late teens.
She went on to earn an economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 and later launched her own company.
She married multi-millionaire real estate mogul Jared Kushner in 2009, and the couple are now official advisers to the President.
Her friends include Chelsea Clinton and other celebrities, including Natalie Portman and Karlie Kloss, but her Instagram account is mostly filled with family snaps or pictures taken on formal, official government occasions.
STRAINED RELATIONSHIP
Despite her lavish lifestyle and socialite friends, Tiffany was being referred to as the “forgotten Trump” by the media as far back as February 2017.
“Ivanka Trump was for many years the only daughter the public knew,” reporter Sarah Ellison wrote in Vanity Fair at that time.
“Tiffany, for her part, has been identified as the ‘forgotten’ Trump, which is an odd form of fame.
“She showed up late on the campaign trail after her graduation. Even then she appeared mostly under the protective wing of her half-sister.”
Mr Trump regularly showers his eldest daughter with praise in the media — he has called her a “great, great beauty”, and when Ivanka was just 16, he famously said: “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
Meanwhile, a source previously told People that Tiffany and her father “have sometimes gone for months without speaking, and she went a very long time without seeing him” after he was elected.
And on election day in 2016, Mr Trump publicly said he was proud of Tiffany “to a lesser extent” than his other children.
“I’m very proud ’cause Don and Eric and Ivanka and, you know, to a lesser extent ’cause she just got out of school, out of college, but, uh, Tiffany, who’s also been so terrific,” he told Fox & Friends.
While she has enjoyed a life of privilege most people could only dream of, Tiffany has also grown up in the shadow of her favoured sister.
As recently as last year Mr Trump was seemingly neglecting his youngest daughter, during an event in Ohio in the US which both daughters attended.
“Speaking of a job well done, we have two of my daughters here today,” Mr Trump told guests.
“Ivanka, who is working hard on infrastructure, Ivanka … and Tiffany!”
It was just two sentences — but it perfectly represented the glaring differences between Mr Trump’s golden child, and his neglected youngest daughter.
