This is the second time Oz Lotto has reached $20 million so far in 2021.
The first time it reached this amount was in January when the jackpot was not won and the prize pool increased to $30 million.
The last time someone won $20 million in Oz Lotto was in September 2020 when a self-confessed “country girl” from Drouin scored the jackpot prize and declared she had no plans to retire early and would continue to work because she wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she didn’t.

“My heart is pounding! Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed when she heard the news.
“We’ve been playing for a long time. I always play the same numbers. I’ve been playing them for about 20 years, I’d say. I marked the numbers with my birthday and things like that. I chose them so long ago now I don’t know why I chose them.”
The Lott’s Bronwyn Spencer said Oz Lotto’s most recent $20 million division one winner from Drouin followed a trend of people continuing to work after their windfall.
“While we do have some major prize winners tell us they are planning on quitting immediately, we do find that many of our players continue to work even after a large windfall,” she said.
“From division one winners who still work because they are passionate about their careers, and players who use their windfall to change jobs or start a business, to our local Drouin country girl who said she wouldn’t know what to do with herself without a job, it’s clear to see many of our Aussie winners have a strong work ethic.”
A survey of Australian lottery players showed only 10 per cent of people surveyed said that being able to retire early or quit their job would bring them the most happiness from their windfall.
“Not surprisingly, being debt-free and financially secure topped the list with a third of players declaring that would bring them the most happiness from their major prize win,” Ms Spencer said.
“Perhaps not having to work for financial freedom and simply for the love of it explains why so many players continue to work after their windfall.”
