One ticket scoops entire $40m Powerball jackpot prize

One lucky winner will take home the entire $40 million lottery jackpot, the biggest prize since an Adelaide man won $150m last month.

One lucky winner has won the entire $40 million Thursday night Powerball jackpot.

The Lott confirmed the ticket that scooped the huge prize was purchased in New South Wales.

The winning numbers in draw 1466 on 20 June were 32, 1, 30, 11, 23, 17 and 20, with a Powerball of 16.

The second prize of $26,016 was won by 27 people with 107 tickets taking out third prize of $8162 each.

The prize is the biggest since an Adelaide man scooped the $150 million jackpot last month.

The man contacted lottery officials after “a sleepless night” on May 23 with his winning Powerball ticket worth $150m.

“I actually had two tickets into last night’s draw. I looked at the clock last night and saw it was getting late and thought the draw should have been done by then,” he said.

“So, I checked the first one and it came up with nothing, then I scanned the second one and it said $150 million.

“I’ve never screamed so loud or jumped so high.

“This was late last night and I still haven’t slept. I’ve just kept checking the ticket.

“I normally play Powerball, so yesterday was a particularly lucky day.

The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell has previously said most division one winners commonly bought a new home, enjoyed a lavish holiday, or helped family and friends with their prize money.

More than half of last year’s division one winner invested money for the future, 40 per cent helped family and friends, 35 per cent bought a new car, and 26 per cent paid off their mortgage or bought a new home.

One winner paid for a cruise for the whole family one week after Christmas, taking 38 of their nearest and dearest on a voyage out to sea.

Another winner revealed they got to live out a lifelong dream and travelled to the Monaco Grand Prix.
