A pair of hardworking Aussie farmers who thought they’d “never” retire have experienced wildly shifting fortunes after winning $10 million in the lottery.
The elderly couple, from Orange, NSW, learned they were Australia’s newest multi-millionaires on Tuesday night.
The woman held the only division one winning entry in the night’s Oz Lotto draw, winning herself and her husband a staggering $10 million from a 12-game QuickPick.
“Are you serious? Are you actually serious? This isn’t a scam, is it? Oh my god!” she told The Lott officials when they phoned her with the good news on Wednesday morning.
“What a dream come true! I can’t stop crying, I’m sorry!”
The woman said she couldn’t wait to find her husband out on the job and share the news.
“We’re farmers and my husband is at retirement age and we thought we could never retire,” she added.
“I can’t wait to get off the phone and visit my husband who is working away in our shed. Oh my god! You don’t know how much this means to us.”
