Four $7.5 million Oz Lotto Division One winners, as man discovers win on way to work

There were four division one winners in Tuesday night’s mega $30 million jackpot. One of them got the surpise news on the way to work.

Tricks to winning the lottery

A man in his 30s from Victoria admitted he couldn’t help but scream “like a 10-year-old girl” when he checked his Oz Lotto ticket.

On his way to work, he discovered he had won a whopping $7.5 million in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw.

“I’ve never had a better morning!” he said.

“I was driving down the road for work and I pulled in to get some fuel. But before I did that, I thought I’d just check my ticket.

“The old lady beside me at the bowser thought I was having a fit when I screamed like a 10-year-old girl. It’s unbelievable!”

QUADRUPLE WIN

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1397 on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 were 25, 10, 39, 33, 2, 27 and 31. The supplementary numbers were 20 and 37.

The Macedon Ranges man held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw.

Two of the winners were from Victoria and one each from NSW and Western Australia – each winning $7.5 million.

Another winner of the multimillion-dollar prize, a man from Melbourne who purchased an 18-game QuickPick online, said he was still going to show up for work despite winning a slice of the jackpot.

One of the Oz Lotto winners said he plans to travel the world and invest in property.

The elated winner said he plans to use his prize to buy a house, travel the world, invest in property and share the rest with his family.

Another winner, a retiree from Wollongong, plans to embark on an Aussie adventure with his heart set on a road trip around the country in a shiny new caravan.

The NSW player said he was glad he was sitting down when he checked his entry earlier this morning or else he would have fallen over.

His winning ticket was also an 18-game QuickPick he purchased online.

THE LUCKY TICKET

The Gisborne man who found out about the win when he stopped for petrol on the way to work said he hadn’t played Lotto in months. “Last night I was sitting there and thought, ‘Bugger it, I’ll get a ticket,’” he said.

Which is lucky because now he’s a multi-millionaire.

“I hope I don’t have a heart attack before I get home,” he told the Lotto officials over a call that confirmed the news.

The small business owner who works for himself said the win was a “huge relief” after doing it tough in recent months.

“It’s been a hard slog lately,” he said. “With lockdown, my business just dried up, and I’ve been trying to get back on my feet.”

He purchased the winning 50-game ticket online.

The winner said he plans to be careful with this money and has no plan to “blow it all”. Rather, he plans to get into the property market and put a large sum in the bank.

“I can go look for a house now. I’m not a fancy kind of guy, so $7.5 million should cover it!” he joked.

“I might just put $6 million in the bank and live off the interest. Just sit back and enjoy life a bit,” he said.

The man also said he has “a few people I’ll look after too”.

The thrilled player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 50-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com, Australia’s official lotteries.

Between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020, 15 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across Australia collectively won $212.14 million.

During this time, the biggest Oz Lotto jackpot was $50 million in October 2019, which was won by a Leumeah tradie who walked off the job and vowed never to work again.

There are more chances to win big with tomorrow night’s Powerball draw offering $8 million, while Saturday’s Lotto draw has an estimated $5 million up for grabs.
