An Australian dad has revealed plans to share his Lotto winnings with his children after claiming $1m from Monday’s draw.

The man, from Dubbo in Central West NSW, held one of the four division one winning entries.

“Would you believe I lost the ticket at first?” he told an official from The Lott when called with the news.

“I had everyone looking for it and as it turns out, it was in my wallet the entire time.

“Thank you so much.”

The winner said he planned to share the money with his children and take his partner on a well-earned trip.

“I’ve been playing for several years and the most I’ve won is $1000,” he said.

“I can’t believe it!”

Across Australia there were four division one winners – three in NSW and one in Western Australia.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Dubbo West Post Office, whose owner, Lea Callan, said the community was buzzing from the news.

“We couldn’t believe it! We thought the news might’ve been a hoax email,” he said.

“Our team and our customers are so excited.”

According to The Lott, winners can still claim their prize if they’ve lost their ticket.

If the ticket is registered to a player card they will arrange for a cheque to be mailed or, if not, players can fill out a lost or damaged ticket search form.
