Biggest jackpot in lotto all year up for grabs tonight in $100m Powerball
The biggest jackpot this year is up for grabs in tonight’s Powerball, and there’s still time to get your hands on a potentially winning ticket.
Australians feeling lucky spent their Thursday queuing up at the local newsagency with the race on to become the country‘s next big Powerball multi-millionaire.
In what is the biggest jackpot on offer this year, those holding a ticket for tonight’s draw 1414 are in the running to win a share of $100 million.
It’s the sixth time Powerball has offered a cash prize this big in the game’s 27-year history, with half of all Australian adults expected to hold an entry in the draw.
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell expects stores countrywide will remain busy up until the draw closes at 7.30pm AEST.
“We haven’t seen a $100 million Powerball draw since December 2022 and back then it was shared among three players who each received a life-changing $33.3 million right before the new year,” she said.
“On that occasion, the peak of sales was at 5.38pm on the day of the draw when Aussies nabbed more than 5,500 tickets in a single minute.”
Ms Hobdell also urged players to register their entries online so they could be informed immediately after the draw if they win the division one prize.
“We’ll be ready to jump on the phone to reach out to any registered division one winners on Thursday night – so if you do see your phone light up with a call, answer it immediately!” she said.
Those yet to buy a ticket can still head to their local supplier to purchase one before the draw closes later this evening.
The winning numbers will be available on the Powerball website and right here on news.com.au.
