The Powerball is back to base after a whopping $126 million prize was snatched up by two lucky ticket holders last week.

Now only $3 million is on offer for the Thursday night lotto draw.

A $3 million jackpot was last up for grabs in Powerball draw 1339 on 13 January 2022. This prize wasn’t won, and instead, it climbed higher for the following week’s draw.

A $3 million Powerball jackpot hasn’t been won by a player since draw 1174 on 15 November 2018. This prize was scored by a Western Australia player.

Last year, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $550 million in prize money. Of these wins, seven landed in New South Wales, four in Queensland, two in Victoria and one in Western Australia.

One of the two mystery winners from last week’s $126 million Powerball from Kalgoorlie, WA, revealed they had nabbed the jackpot in a since deleted social media post.

But in a major twist, the $63 million fortune doesn’t belong to one person, but rather 250 players who bought their tickets through a syndicate.

Last week, two ticket holders won $63 million each.

A syndicate of 250 people from the West Australian town of Kalgoorlie scored the huge prize.

The syndicate was brought together through a local Facebook group with the intention to pay their mortgage. The group was called ‘Goldfields, let’s pay our mortgages’.

Each person in the syndicate won about $260,000.

The newsagent that sold the winning ticket posted, then deleted, a hilarious Facebook update, simple saying: “We f--king did it”.

The winning numbers were revealed last week, with the two division one winners each scoring a whopping $63,309,056.98 each.

The division one prize pool was boosted to a phenomenal $126,618,113.96 due to the number of entries purchased in the draw.

In addition to the two division one winners, there were 36 division two winners who shared more than $2.7 million, receiving $77,385.90 each. .

The New South Wales entry was purchased from a NSW Lotteries outlet in the Coffs Harbour region, officials said in a statement.

Because the entry is not a registered player, officials are unable to contact the mystery NSW player.
