There’s $30 million on the line for this Tuesday’s lottery draw if punters pick the winning combination of numbers.

Last year, there were 18 division one winners that collectively took home more than $279 million in prize money.

Six of these division one winning entries landed in Victoria, five in NSW, three in Western Australia, two in Queensland and one each in the Northern Territory and South Australia. Tasmania didn’t have any winners.

A South Australian and a Victorian shared the last $30 million Oz Lotto prize in early December 2021 – each taking home $15 million right before Christmas.

Both winners couldn’t believe their luck. As it came right before Christmas, they had the perfect opportunity to splash their cash.

The South Australian winner, from Downer, said $15 million was a ridiculous amount of money.

“This is too much money to comprehend. I’ve always thought a $1 million prize would be the number. I never thought of something this big!” the Downer man told an official from The Lott.

“I had a quick look at my ticket last night before bed. I actually slept quite well. It was the last thing I saw before bed, and I don’t think it registered properly.

“I always pick the numbers – a couple of birthdays, and then I just pick the rest randomly. This is the greatest phone call of my life.”

The man knew how to spend his new-found fortune as well.

“With everything that’s happened during the past two years, being in the same place and doing the same things, now’s the time to think about things, and I’ve certainly got a few more options now,” the South Australian said.

“I’m at that point where I’m thinking I’ll be working for the next 30 or more years, but now that’s probably not going to happen. There will be more time off work, longer holidays and paying off the mortgage.

“This Christmas should be fun.”
