$30m lottery jackpot up for grabs
After weeks of nobody picking the right numbers, the lottery prize jackpotted to a whopping $30 million. Here are this week’slucky numbers.
Oz Lotto is set to jackpot from $30 million after no one took out the big prize.
The numbers this week were 13, 44, 32, 45, 1, 17, 15 and the two supplementaries were 8 and 34.
So far this year, there have been 13 Oz Lotto division one wins worth more than $197 million.
NSW and Victoria have each scored four division one pries, Western Australia has enjoyed three, while Queensland and Northern Territory have one each.
This is the fourth time Oz Lotto has offered a prize of $30 million this year.
A Sydney man won the same amount last year and exclusively spoke to news.com.au earlier this month.
Surprisingly, the $30 million win wasn’t entirely a good thing, he revealed.
The ex-tradie aged in his 30s told news.com.au: “What my motto has become, I guess winning the lotto doesn’t make you any happier, it just makes life easier.
“If you’re not happy, and you want to win the lottery (to change that) you’re going to be terribly mistaken.”
He had a lot of “weird” experiences when he told friends and family about the windfall.
“People have come out of the woodwork,” he explained.
“A lot of people find out through the grape vine, they never actually ask you. I had someone that I haven’t even seen since I was in school, probably 15 years ago.”
One very close friendship soured because “they didn’t take it well” when he told them he was now a multi-millionaire.
The man still remembers the “surreal” moment he discovered he’d won the Powerball while staying in a shoddy motel in regional NSW after doing a 14-hour work day.
“I could either charge my phone or watch the TV because there was only one power point in the room,” he said.
After watching the telly for 10 minutes, he grew bored and plugged in his phone instead.
As it was a Thursday, he remembered he had entered that week’s Powerball prize and decided to check out the winning numbers.
“Bang,” he said. “I saw it there, it was just there. I was sitting on my phone, alone, a few beers in, thinking ‘what’s going on’.
“It’s 30 f*cking million dollars.”
Another $3m win
Last month, a Gold Coast mum also nabbed a $30 million prize at the end of last month.
The lucky winner was making a cup of tea before bed when she got a phone call with the shocking news on September 22.
“What! Is this legit?” the winner initially questioned. “Are you serious? Oh my goodness.
“This amazing! This is life-changing. I have no idea what to say,” she said. “Everybody has had such a strange year with Covid. Our family’s lives have been turned upside down. But with this, we can set ourselves up, set our kids up, set our family up. It will change our lives, and we’ll want to share that kindness with others.
“I actually checked the draw results before, but they weren’t ready, so I went and had a shower,” she said. “I have a cup of tea to drink, but I think we’ll have a drink instead.”
