Nigel Stewart-Stone apologises for state of son’s Renault Clio in hilarious eBay advert
YOU’VE got to hand it to him, this seller has a heap of honesty. This dad shows how to get attention when selling a beat up car in a competitive market.
YOU’VE got to hand it to him, this seller has a heap of honesty.
A British father has learned honesty does pay after his hilarious post selling his son’s car has gained him a lot of attention, and a few internet fans.
Nigel Stewart-Stone posted the advert to eBay in the hope of finding a buyer for his teenage son’s Renault Clio.
And he left no detail out as to the state of the vehicle owned by son Dalton.
The advert titled my teenage sons 2005 Renault Clio, with story time, who would buy it? has so far attracted more than 50 bids and is up to $450.
The dad from Newton Abbot in Devon begins by apologising for the state of the battered black car.
He goes to list its many faults including a large dent on the passenger side of the car and a clutch which isn’t working the best.
But the bonus is the electric windows work well “considering the amount of times they go up and down calling to his mates, and banter with the passing girls, many of whom have been taken for rides in the car, which may explain the passenger seat not moving back and forth anymore, still makes it hard for them to escape his deafening music.”
Oh, and there may or may not be oil in the car so buyers beware.
“Anyway if you think this car may be suitable for your son, please go ahead and buy it, its (sic) after all in the perfect state for any teenager lad, and will save them all the time and effort that my son has put in to it, getting it this way” the advert continues.
Mr Stewart-Stone told The Mirror he decided to take the humorous approach as he figured who would want to buy it anyway and has been inundated with responses, which showed people were at least reading the ad.
And it seems the advert hit the right note with eBay users as well with one posting: “You have just made my night! Hilarious!
Another posted: “You have made my day! I have no interest in buying your son car! But I love the fact that you let your son live his life! WELL DONE FOR BEING A FAB DAD!!!” (sic)
