1. SYDNEY — The Australian market looks set to open lower after Wall Street fell following US president Donald Trump’s says he will bring down drug prices and backed a bill to replace the Obamacare healthcare law. at 0700 AEDT on Wednesday, the share price futures index was down nine points at 5,745.

2. SYDNEY — Meanwhile, the Australian dollar is sharply lower against its US counterpart. The local currency was trading at 75.88 US cents at 0700 AEDT on Wednesday, from 76.16 on Tuesday.

3. JAKARTA — Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has talked up Indonesia as a great ally in the fight against terrorism while talking down the prospect of joint patrols between the two countries in the South China Sea.

4. LONDON — The British government will seek to overturn changes made by parliament’s upper chamber to legislation that will give Prime Minister Theresa May the power to begin EU exit talks, Brexit minister David Davis says.

5. WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has backed a draft Republican proposal to repeal and replace Obamacare and has also said he is also working on a system to cut drug prices in the United States.

6. PARIS — The United States has reported an outbreak of avian flu on a farm in Wisconsin, the second in the country in less than a week although the virus found this time is considered less virulent, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) says.

7. MOSCOW — Russia’s communications watchdog has received a letter from LinkedIn, a social networking website it had blocked, in which the company said it was not willing to take steps to comply with a Russian data storage law.
