At 6.30am AEST, the local unit was trading at 104.35 US cents, down from 104.56 cents yesterday.

US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke will address a symposium of global central banks in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, tonight, Australian time.

During the local session on Friday, Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) governor Glenn Stevens will appear before the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics.
