THE Australian market looks set to open flat following falls on Wall Street after a surprisingly weak jobs report prompted doubts the US economy could sustain a near-term interest rate rise.

At 0645 AEST on Monday, the share price index was up one point at 5,323.

Locally, in economic news on Monday, the TD Securities-Melbourne Institute inflation gauge for May is due out, as is the ANZ job advertisements series for May.

No major equities news, is expected.

In Australia, the market on Friday clawed back some of its recent losses to end its worst week in two months on a positive note.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 40 points, or 0.76 per cent, at 5,318.9 points.

The broader All Ordinaries index was up 38.3 points, or 0.72 per cent, at 5,392.5 points.
