Locally, no major economic or equities news is expected on Monday, however the Henderson global investment returns report is due out.
In Australia, the market on Friday closed higher despite weaker commodity prices and falls on other markets.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 28 points, or 0.53 per cent, at 5,351.3 points.
The broader All Ordinaries index was up 29.6 points, or 0.55 per cent, at 5,415.2 points.
