At 0630 AEST on Wednesday, the local currency was trading at 93.04 US cents, down from 93.34 cents on Tuesday.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski told reporters overnight that Russia had increased its military presence on the Ukraine border, suggesting a possible escalation in the conflict.
