THE Australian dollar is over half a US cent higher today.

At 0704 AEST, the Australian dollar was trading at 105.44 US cents, up from 104.78 US cents on Tuesday.

In economic news today, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) releases data on Average Weekly Time Earnings (AWOTE) for three months to May, and the Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM) issues $1000 million of Treasury Notes maturing on October 21, 2011.

The Australian dollar hit a peak of 110.81 US cents on July 27, its highest level since the fixed exchange rate era ended with its float in December 1983.
